Casino Drive returned to action with a pleasing comeback performance to win on the all-weather Santa Anita track. Santa Anita hosts the $5m Breeders Cup Classic that the Japanese colt is being aimed at. Casino Drive was returning from a lay-off after bruising a foot prior to the Belmont Stakes, for which he was a late scratch in June. He then returned to his homeland of Japan. Connections were understandably pleased, with his jockey Victor Espinoza claiming his horse had plenty in the tank after his cosy three-quarter-of-a-length win. Casino Drive is sure to improve for that trial and he will need to if he is to see off the likes of Curlin and Big Brown on the big day.
