Mad Rush follows in Purple Moon's steps |
|
English-based, Italian trainer
Luca Cumani came so close to Melbourne Cup glory last year when runner-up
with his Purple Moon. This year Cumani is sending Mad Rush in the same
illustrious hoofprints. Like Purple Moon last year, Mad Rush will have a prep run in the 1m4f Caulfield Cup. Purple Moon was sixth in the event last term before beating all bar one in The Melbourne Cup itself. However, also like purple Moon, Mad Rush has drawn a wide outside stalls berth (stall 17). The Cumani team, ably represented by daughter Francesca Cumani, would be really happy to see Mad Rush running on at the death into the placings for the Caulfield Cup. The hero of The Ebor handicap was All The Good who is also following the same route to The Melbourne Cup. The Godolphin owned and trained runner got a better Caulfield Cup berth in stall 8. Mad Rush is currently 14/1 and All The Good is 20/1 in the betting for The Melbourne Cup. The rest of The Melbourne
